Why Do Vehicles Need Oil?

All vehicles including cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, tractors, scooters, jet skis, snowmobiles, dirt bikes, earthmovers, and all types of machinery are made of metal.  These metal surfaces move close together and touch each other when the vehicle operates. If these surfaces contact each other friction will occur and the metal surfaces will scrape against each other.

Friction is the enemy of metal parts moving against one another and billions of dollars are spent studying how to prevent or lessen friction.  There is an entire science around this concept called "Tribology" (this is where TriboDyn got its name).  These metal surfaces are in motion almost constantly and under extreme pressure and heat.  Eventually, these surfaces will wear out or even break apart, causing catastrophic failure. Your oil acts as a buffer to keep these surfaces from scraping and tearing themselves to pieces.  Additionally, your oil removes dirt, spent fuel, carbon, and other deposits from the internal parts of your vehicle.  Oil can also provide gentle pressure to help gears move properly.  Engineers call oil the lifeblood of your vehicle.
